June 1, 2021 – I Peter 5:5-6

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you. I Peter 5:5-6.

When I contemplated the command for the younger to listen to their elders, I realize how much responsibility lies on the hearts of the ‘elders’ to follow Christ Jesus in all things. All those who follow Jesus, young and old are to be examples or ambassadors for Jesus. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20.

Why should we humble ourselves before God?  Because only our Lord God could create the intricacies of our world.   All other so-called gods have died, only our Lord God lives, and only He could raise His Son from the grave after He was crucified for our sins.  I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 3:13.

Dear Lord God, the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us. We give You all the glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Be firm in your faith in Christ Jesus — and resist every temptation. Recognize temptation and say, “Get behind me!” Be watchful and discerning in all things.

Delight yourself in the Lordand He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:4-5.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. I Peter 5:8-9.
