“Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Peter asked, “Lord, is that illustration just for us or for everyone?” Matthew 12:39-41January 2, 1992 – “I may never find out what I looked for today, but that sense of expectancy carried me through the day.” ADSExpectations carry us through many a day. Another word for expectations is “Hope”. Hope is a cousin to Faith, the substance hoped for….(Hebrews 1:1) Even as Mom lived with Expectancy, we also do. The expectations may be for a million dollars when our ship docks. It may be looking at seed catalogs in early spring. It may be watching the rain clouds in the distance. Or it may be as simple as an uncomplicated life, trusting in Jesus, while in the throes of drama. The surprises of life are everlasting when ‘we turn our eyes upon Jesus…” For each day is lived in the expectation that Jesus will come when least expected. Getting ready and staying ready for the coming of Jesus is like preparing for a guest who is already living with us.. He won’t do a ‘white glove test’ of our lives, Jesus already knows us completely.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 Expectancy is peace — knowing Jesus completely and living in Him completely!
