July 5, 2016 – Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1Do you desire freedom in this life? We all have the freedom of choice, to choose our way. And the responsibility to choose our way of life for ourselves and those who come after. My Aunt told me she did not understand her father’s prayer, for those who come after. He prayed in German, Nach Komen. Those who come after. My Grandfather prayed for me, my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and those who Nach Komen before we born. What is the yoke of slavery? It is that which separates us from the Giver of Freedom. This freedom spans far beyond our brief life on this earth. This is the freedom to love and serve one another. How often I hear my Mother’s voice in my head and heart, as an echo of God’s Word. I remember her examples of serving others in love. She used the gifts that God gave her. She raised flowers to give, baked loaves of bread and played music for worship, weddings and funerals. God gave her words to write of encouragement. I often praise God for choosing my Mother to be His guide in my life. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:30-32Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:12-13Walk in freedom in this life, choose wisely who will hold your heart! Let love and serving be your watch-word for choosing Life. For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
