July 4, 2018 – Psalm 19:1-3

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Psalm 19:1-3.

At this time of the year, we lift our eyes, not to see God’s glory, but to see fountains of light thrown against God’s velvet sky, and we praise mankind for their cleverness.  No One Else can paint the skies in such a variety of colors and shapes. No One Else can proclaim a Presence You maintain in the skies with the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars.  No One Else can command the wind to be still, or send rain-filled clouds to bring blessed rain at just the right time.

No One Else makes promises with a rainbow for all to see.  No One Else creates a trumpet fanfare for the rising and setting of the sun.  No One Else rides the clouds or wins battles with the weapon of clouds.  No One Else creates a storm cloud to hide in. No One Else but Our God!

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LordOh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. Psalm 40:3-4

Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat. Psalm 19:4-6.
