July 4, 2016 – Romans 8:1-2

Romans8-1-2There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death Romans 8:1-2What is the ultimate fear we are born with?  The fear of death and pain.  We try to protect our bodies in an ever circling dance of dread. As outside forces creep into our lives, we see signs of decay and destruction.  We purchase Life Insurance.  As if that frees us from fear of death.  Freedom that we prize so highly is not a badge of security we can pin on, or the blanket of warmth from the cold shivers of fear that threatens us.God, not law, in his everlasting love has given us the law of the Spirit of Life through Jesus Christ.  Ultimate freedom from the law of sin and death comes through the warmth of His free gift of grace.  It is a gift Jesus paid for through love.  His arms are outstretched to receive us.After listening to a class of 6th graders try to proclaim freedom from rules to gain day long recesses and free food.  They had no idea of the cost of freedom.  Not one student understood the price of freedom is honor, respect and sacrifice.God created the world we live in to show us the glory of the coming of new birth in the seeds we plant to make a garden.  When we see an acorn, we do not see the tree that is trapped inside.  Even as God has gives us the promise of eternal life, then will all creation be set free from its cycle of death and life.  When Jesus comes again all creation will have the same freedom of the glory of the children of God.  Rejoice and sing with me, To God be the glory, for the things He has done.  With His blood He has saved me, With His power He has saved me...

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Romans 8:19-21
