July 30, 2015 – Exodus 3:4
One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” Exodus 3:1-3Walk with Moses awhile. as he cares for his father-in-law flock. Did you see the mountain he is on? God’s Mountain – Sinai. Little did Moses know that later he would see God’s glory and receive the ten commandments on Mountain Sinai.Moses was astonished that a bush could burn and not burn up. He walked closer. It was then God spoke from the middle of the burning bush. God knew the name of Moses. Just as he knows your name and knows my name. How did Moses answer? Here I am! When God called Adam and Eve after they ate the fruit they were not to eat from the tree. They hid from God. When God called Samuel, Samuel answered, Here I am, Lord.Do we want to hide or answer, Here I am, Lord, when God calls? Be ready to listen and hear when God calls your name. When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied.
