July 29, 2021 – Psalm 147:4-5

He determines the number of the stars; He gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 147:4-5.

And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.  Genesis 1:16.  And the stars…

Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore. Hebrews 11:12.  This promise is given to Abraham at the age of ninety-nine, with no children. What God plans is always so. For with God all things are possible.

When the stars are hidden behind a covering of clouds, we have faith in God that they will appear again in God’s Time. This gives us our Hope in the majesty and wonder of God’s steadfast love.

O, Lord, our God, strengthen my faith by seeing your great power and hope for a life eternal with You.  When I see the stars, help me to know You are the Creator of all we see around us. Help me to praise You and be pleasing to You until you call me Home.  I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lordand He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:3-5.

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love. Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! Psalm 147:10-12.
