July 29, 2020 – James 4:7-8
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8.
Submission to any authority is difficult. And God wants total submission from us. Who is God? And why should we obey?
Consider His Works. Consider His great Love. Consider His Creation. We breathe His breath, we live on the Earth He created. He knows the number of hairs on our head.
O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. Psalm 139:1-3.
Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power. Psalm 21:13. Who are we to pronounce judgement on anyone, when there is only One from whom all things come has the knowledge and wisdom to judge us.
Oh, Lord, my God, how I praise You for your goodness. I rejoice in your faithfulness. I celebrate your Love, Teach me to humble myself before you. And I sing the old hymn, “I surrender all!” to You. I pray in the Name of Jesus, Your Son. Amen.
The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation— Psalm 18:46.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. James 4:10-11.
