July 17, 2018 – Psalm 18:2-3

The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. Psalm 18:2-3.

At one time or other, in our lives, we feel scared and want to hide from the world.  As a young girl, when I made a mistake, I wanted to dig a deep hole and hide from the world.  I am sure I had heard these words before – God is my shield and my place of safety.  Yet these words remained without meaning for me until I learned to trust God and know His promises are true.

No matter what life brings us – and the heartache – God is our Rock.  He is our hiding place. Psalm 17:8 reveals the Psalmist’s desire and place of safety. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Can you imagine a hiding place that no one can take away?  When we believe and trust in God and in Jesus in our hearts, we know we are following.  He is our perfect way, for God’s Way is perfect and true.  Not just on earth, but for an eternity.

The lyrics, God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way… give us comfort and reassurance. We know the Lord makes our way perfect each day.

God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:30-32.
