January 5, 2021 – I John 4:19-20
We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. I John 4:19-20.
“O, how He Loves Us!” are the lyrics to a hymn. And our God teaches us to Love our brothers and He give us the strength and wisdom to love our enemies as well.
This is not a ‘how to’ in a list, it is not a suggestion it is a commandment. When Mother said we ‘must’ do something, it was not ‘if you want to’ it was a ‘have to’.
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. I John 4:12. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7.
O Father in Heaven, Thank you for sending Your Son to earth to teach me to love as You love. O, Father, help me to know You, through the life and teaching of Your Son, Jesus. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? I John 5:3-5.
And this commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. I John 4:21.
