January 31, 2019 – I Kings 8:56-57.
“Praise the Lord who has given rest to His people Israel, just as He promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises He gave through His servant Moses. May the Lord our God be with us as He was with our ancestors; may He never leave us or abandon us.” 1 Kings 8:56-57.
King Solomon prays at the dedication of the Temple. His trust and faith in God provides a foundation for living in God’s Grace. Not just for Moses, for David, and for Solomon, but also for us.
Read verse 58, May He give us the desire to do His will in everything and to obey all the commands, He gave our ancestors.
How many times do we wonder why our parents and grandparents think and act, in old-fashioned ways? How do you know they once thought like you do now, and learned praising and trusting God is the wiser thing to do in this life. The ‘desire to do His will’ comes with humility and knowing God.
Part of the trusting God is Never stop praying. (I Thessalonians 5:17). There is no other God— there never has been, and there never will be. Isaiah 43:10b.
And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Titus 2:7. Let this be my prayer!
“May He give us the desire to do His will in everything and to obey all the commands, decrees, and regulations that He gave our ancestors. And may these words that I have prayed in the presence of the Lord be before Him constantly, day and night, so that the Lord our God may give justice to me and to His people Israel, according to each day’s needs. Then people all over the earth will know that the Lord alone is God and there is no other.” I Kings 8:58-60.
