January 26, 2016 – Habakkuk 3:3

Habakkuk3-3I see God moving across the deserts from Edom, the Holy One coming from Mount Paran. His brilliant splendor fills the heavens, and the earth is filled with his praise. Habakkuk 3:3Have you ever watched a sunrise creep across the sky, lighting the whole world?  How many times have you asked if you had to get up in the morning?  If you can’t see, I raised my hands.  My little boy often is up before sunrise and greets the God who created the faithful sunrises. Now, imagine what it would be if all the morning shows is endless sand and bare mountains.  No green anywhere.  Where people praise God, there is light, there is joy, there is love and there is forgiveness.Look again where the writer who writes these words could be in the Bible.  Have your Dad or Mom help you say Habakkuk.  Say it several times.  This is the 5th book before the end of the Old Testament nestled between Nahum and Zephaniah.  Habakkuk is one of the Old Testament Prophets. He lived for God before Jesus came to the world…the same Jesus who was crucified for our sins on a cross.  The same Jesus who was raised from the dead by Father God.  The same Jesus who disappeared in the clouds to go back to Heaven to His Father God.  The same Jesus who will return to the world when time is no more and gather those who praise Him and follow Him and love Him.When Jesus came the first time as a tiny babe, God announced his coming … with light.  Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!… Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased. Luke 2:9-11, 12-13.Can you imagine the awe and wonder when Jesus comes the second time?  “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” Romans 14:11.His coming is as brilliant as the sunrise. Rays of light flash from his hands, where his awesome power is hidden. Habakkuk 3:4
