January 21, 2019 – Psalm 121:1-2
I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth! Psalm 121:1-2
Knowing how enormous, faithful, kind, and loving our God is the first giant leap to faith. It takes a lifetime to fathom His true Greatness.
Everything in life that counts builds on trusting God and His plan for us and our lives. When we know without a doubt God made Heaven and Earth, it is a beginning of Trust. When we accept Jesus as the Son of God, and the only pathway to Eternal life with God, we take the second step into a life of Trust.
My Mother required me to learn these verses as a young girl. I had no concept of a huge mountain. We climbed small red hills in Oklahoma. I wondered how anyone could go without sleep and never slumber. Then we drove up Pike’s Peak. The height of the climb frightened me, as I peered out the window of the car.
Then we reached the top. The breathtaking view captured me. Now I know life is the same. Knowledge and faith in God bring joy and peace to our hearts. A good life and a good death are inseparably interwoven, inter-dependent, and mutually reinforcing. We begin to see the panorama of things to come.
The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Psalm 121:5-8.
He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. Psalm 121:3-4.
