January 15, 2016 – I John 2:24-25

IJohn2-24-25So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. I John 2:24-25Remain faithful.  Continue believing without letting seeds of doubt grow in your heart.  Continue trusting.Noah was taunted and ridiculed because he chose to have faith in the One who gave him instructions to build an ark on a sun-filled time and on dry ground.Moses listened to God even when his people doubted that they had a destination in the wilderness because of hunger.  They would have returned to slavery rather than trust God.  Abraham went on a long journey to an unknown destination.  God promised him a son and many descendants at an old age.  And his wife, Sarah, laughed.  Because of Abraham’s faith, through their lineage, came Christ Jesus. When we believe and have faith in God, we will have a promise at the end of our journey.  A new heavens and new earth filled with God’s righteousness where there is no fear of any kind or darkness.  Do we join the scoffers of Noah’s day?  Do we raise golden images to worship as soon as Moses turns his back?  Do you choose your own way and miss the promise of eternity with God.  Do we make every effort to believe and trust and not let doubt hinder us?Who else gives peace from burdens and troubles?  Who else gives us hope everlasting?  Who else loves us beyond measure?  There is no one like Jesus.  Who else is there, but Jesus.  Make every effort to trust, believe and follow Jesus, our Lord. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort.  2 Peter 3: 13-14
