January 13, 2017 – I John 5:11-12

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I John 5:11-12

God shows us in many ways that He gives us eternal life. God gives us the ultimate freedom to choose Him. He sent His Son to pay the price for our gift of eternal life.Living in Christ is not a spectator sport.  We are the players. We believe and trust God’s Word.  It is a life of action.

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12.This gift of eternal life has only one door to enter. (John 10:7) I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep — And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.

So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. (I John 4:17)

Pleasing God is a life worth living.  It is a life with eternal consequences. Where else can we find forgiveness, second chances, and love that never ends? When I was young I thought of God shaking his finger at me. Now that am much older, I envision God holding out his arms to me, saying, “Come and I will give you rest!”

I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. I John 5:13-14
