January 12, 2016 – John 7:38-39

John7-38-39On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:38-39Do you remember what a cool glass of water tastes like on a hot summer day after being in the sun all afternoon?  Nothing tastes better than refreshing water. Many do not recognize a different kind of thirst.  A different hunger and thirst that God himself places deep within our hearts. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.  Ecclesiastes 3:11The most beautiful is Jesus who loves us and quenches our thirst with living water.  Water that brings not just life but eternal life and makes the lives we live, sweeter.  Before Jesus, Abraham believed in God’s promises.  Believing in God to provide, to guide, and refresh him. No one has seen God.  But we see His work all around us.  Do you see the sun, the moon, the stars, the animals, the birds, the seasons, the growing seeds in the earth God created?  Have you seen the rainbow stretched across the sky? The rainbow is an “I love you!” banner from God to us.Our faith, believing, grows stronger as we have faith in Him.  We believe…we love…we trust when we choose to believe that God is able!  God is able to do whatever he promises!  As our faith grows strong, we bring glory to God, just like Abraham.  Each day is a new beginning as we enjoy the refreshing, living water of Jesus.Drink freely of the living water and believe in Jesus — then we have nothing to fear, to worry about, because we simply trust Him, who is able!Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. Romans 4:20-21
