In God We Trust!

God We Trust
found on our coins.
the Civil War, religious sentiment caused this to be placed on the coins in
1861.  Congress passed the Act of April 22, 1864, for final approval to
appear on the 1864 two-cent coin.
What do these four words mean? What does ‘trusting God’ mean?  As I
thought about these four words, I realize trusting needs over four words to
convey its meaning.
First, we need to know God and understand His Purpose in this world. The very
first verses in the Bible tell us, In the beginning, God created the
heavens and the earth.  The earth was without
form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of
God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1-2. Continuing on
in verse 27, this chapter reveals – So God created man in his own image, in
the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
is the reason I live on this earth. He created the world we live on and the
universe in which earth is placed. What else has God done since the beginning
of time to make me trust Him?  He LOVES!  He loves His
Children.  But to all who did receive
Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to
become children of God.
John 1:12.
Throughout the Old Testament, we learn how following Him increases the reasons for
me to trust Him.  Whenever I see a small child lift her arms to be carried
and cared for to her parents, I think of what it like to trust God and He cares
for us. From Abraham to Noah, from Jonah to Moses, from David to the prophets,
all trusted and were faithful to God. The Lord your God who goes
before you will Himself fight for you, just as He did for you in Egypt
before your eyes.
 Deuteronomy 1:30-31.
God did not create us to walk away and leave us.  His love is
steadfast and true. When He sent Jesus to be born a baby on earth, He sent us
His Treasure, to be the sacrifice for our sins. Then Jesus came. All is
changed. When Jesus came, He fills life with glory. (from Then Jesus
. Shea)
God’s love is true and lasts forever.  A love that never changes. We
love because He first loved us.
I John 4:19. And the One who Loves says in
the last book of the Bible, “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my
recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the
Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the
Revelation 22:12-13.
In the early morning dawn one morning, I searched the skies to see a sign from God.
The brilliant light of God shone in the sky.  I see the crescent of the
moon testifying of His Mighty greatness. Then soon the sun covers the
clouds.  Man’s life comprises changes and differences. Yet, God’s promises
of love and His Faithfulness brings the peace and joy we need in our lives. And
these verses come to my mind.
Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each
other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down
from the sky.
Psalm 85:10-11.
Trusting Him in all things and coming to Him at all times gives us freedom from
fear.  Trust and Hope walk hand in hand throughout our lives no
matter what we encounter.  Sadness and sorrow are but moments when we
realize how much we need His mercy and grace.
Loving like our Father God provides the beginning of walking in His way of love
and forgiveness.  Having the conviction of Faith in Him gives us
confidence and leads the way to Trust and Hope in Him. It is then we can live
the life of Expectation and Hope.

the wells of salvation.
 And you will say
in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that
his name is exalted. “Sing praises to the Lord,
for he has done gloriously;
 let this be made
