February 8, 2017 – Psalm 16:7-8
I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. Psalm 16:7-8
What matters? Do we live each day majoring in minors? We want what we want when we want it. The first five words jump out at me, I will bless the Lord! Wait a minute, what about my blessings? When we realize deep in our hearts who the Lord is and what He is, and who I am to Him.
I understand blessing the Lord, worshiping the Lord, and praising the Lord. He created me with love. He guides me, He whispers love lullabies of peace and joy to me. He knows the number of hairs on my head, He knows when I rise, and when I lay down. He knows my every thought and every word I speak before I think it or hear it.He sent Jesus to become a sacrifice for our sins because of His immense love.
What matters in our lives? The understanding of His great love, His presence beside us, and His pleasure of living with us forever. He controls every aspect of our lives from where we were born and live, to who/what our government is.What matters is the love and forgiveness we give freely to others. Spiritual maturity is Godly wisdom. No longer do we hyperventilate at every inconvenience, when God walks beside us. We simply hold his hand and trust in Him to lead us and guide us in His way of life — not ours.
“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! You show unfailing love to thousands, but you also bring the consequences of one generation’s sin upon the next. You are the great and powerful God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles. You see the conduct of all people, and you give them what they deserve. Jeremiah 32:17-19.
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11
