The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24Did this message jump out at you when you read these four verses?  The Lord directs — The Lord holds them by the hand — The Lord rescues the godly — The Lord helps them!These reveal the He phrases, what He does. He delights in every detail — He is their fortress in times of trouble — He saves them — and is their shelter.The question is, will I ever be lost, unsteady, need help, need a fortress or a shelter or need saving?  Yes, Yes and Yes.  This is called life. Then I wonder, how can anyone doubt the greatness of God?  We are often like the boy in the painting — holding on to the hand of Jesus and yet, enticed by something just off the path.  The world often has this allure for us, or the dangerous phrase is on our lips….just this once won’t hurt!!!  Or we delude ourselves with the words, no one will know.These thoughts build a high wall of deception as we try to hide from our Onmiscient Lord God.  It doesn’t work. He knows all – not just our ‘now’ in this time, but all the ‘nows’ of every age of every person He has created.  He is able to care for us at every moment of our lives.  He loves us so.The question is — What if I don’t trust God?  What if I don’t know God?  What if I deny God’s very existence? Am I willing to take a chance of living without having a fortress or a shelter or being rescued from the wicked?  Am I willing to live forever outside of God’s care and protection.  This is the question each of us much ask for ourselves.The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him. Psalm 37:39-40
