February 5, 2016 – Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2Do you want peace in your life? Tim Keller says the three things that propel you into living peacefully are Thinking (learning the things of the Lord); Thanking (enjoying the things of the Lord, not of the world) and Loving (impartially-don’t pick and choose whom to love). (The sermon on Peace – November 30, 2012 – Philippians 4:4-12)What does the world choose to think about, who do they thank and who or what do they love? If it is of the world, you only find peace and God’s love when you love things of God and not the things of the world. For God is in control. We are not. When we walk in His Presence and Honor Him, we find true love and we love each other. We love each other, not for what they can do for us, but because this is a part of living peacefully.“But those who still reject me are like the restless sea, which is never still but continually churns up mud and dirt. There is no peace for the wicked,” says my God. Isaiah 57:20-21Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:1-2Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. Romans 12:9-12
