December 9, 2016 – Psalm 1:1-2

psalm1-1-2bOh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. Psalm 1:1-2It was the day after I was baptized at the tender age of eight years.  I went to school to eagerly share the news with my friends. I learned early that this was not the ‘in’ thing to do when they made fun of me.  How this hurt me.As I travel through this life, I realize that to delight in the Lord is like a tidal wave of love that sweeps me through the hard times of life.Once I sat on a river bank, and noticed the trees that grew alongside, lifting their arms to praise their creator and bearing fruit.  When I learned to sing Joyce Kilmer’s Trees, I constantly come back to this poem  – I think I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree — and ends with Only God can make a tree!!!  Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ John 7:38.  Follow the example of the tree, drinking in the ‘living water’ that will help us prosper in all we do, as we live with our arms raised to the One Who gives us life, love and peace.

Praise the Lord! Let all that I am praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath. Psalm 146:1-2

They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:3
