December 6, 2016 – Genesis 5:23-24

Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him. Genesis 5:23-24Who is this Enoch?  Did he have a secret way of being  invisible? His disappearance has nothing to do with magic, but something far greater.  He filled his mind and heart with God and walked daily on earth with Him.This makes me wonder what I think all day.  What do I think or dream about at night?  It is important what we think. The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking;  the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words. Proverbs 15:28.  Do I use angry words, or loving words?  Do I blame others for everything that goes wrong?  Do I curse God or come to Him in prayer and thanksgiving?How did Enoch walk with God? Enoch put God first in his life, and obeyed Him, trusted Him to lead him, and most of all – loved Him.  Enoch put his life in God’s hands and didn’t try to solve his problems alone.  Enoch realized God is more wise, more powerful, more in control of what is, than Enoch himself could ever be.In today’s world we are pulled many ways in our thinking.  We think we can do all things. A young boy I once knew thought that he had the secret of doing all things when he wore a Superman cape including flying.  He soon learned it takes loving Jesus.I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13.  Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12
