Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But you haven’t believed in me even though you have seen me.b However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:35-40Nothing like the plate full of Zwieback, two-story baked rolls, from the kitchen of Grandma Suderman. The melt-in-your-mouth rolls were really living when I was a girl. Jesus must have known what was coming up, and knew that those who loved Jesus would understand his, “I Am.” “I am the Bread of Life.”Jesus used many “I ‘Ams'” through out his ministry. I am the Good Shepherd, Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6Jesus is the one who gives the Living Water. Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) John 7:38-39Dear Lord of All, May I eat of the bread of life and drink of the Living Water, walk in His Way, and live by the Light of the World. May Truth be my constant companion. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
