August 8, 2023 – Reflections on “Wait On The Lord!”

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3: 25-26.

Who is this Lord that we expectantly wait for Him. David knew! He wrote, O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name I all the earth! You have set your glory above the Heavens. Psalm 8:1.

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psalm 27:13-14.

God created the eagles so His prophet Isaiah could use the eagle to teach us. He gives power to the faint, and to Him who has no might, he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:29-31.

Have you ever wondered why you were born? There is a purpose that began along with this time. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love, He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3-6.

Our waiting includes many facets, beginning with Love. We wouldn’t wait for God unless we love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind, and wanting to be His, be set apart and choosing righteous living. This means we obey His commands given to us in the Bible! Like, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7-8.

There are no ‘maybe’s’ with God. For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him we utter our Amen to God for His glory. And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put His seal on us and given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. I Corinthians 1:20-22. One gift I received from a special friend is a plate that has a huge “YES!” on it. A reminder of the ‘YES’ in waiting on the Lord! Trust, Patience, and Hope comes with Listening to His Word and the Holy Spirit, after being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10. We cannot do enough good things to earn our way into Heaven. It is His Gift. It is whether we Believe and Trust in Him.

It is often said, First things, First! However, Jesus taught, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33.

The world cannot give us peace, and then I found these words that come to us as we wait on the Lord. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:26-27.

Why do we wait on the Lord for our salvation? Because God created us and the world we live in with a word. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9.

So, God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female, He created them. Genesis 1:27. We belong to Him and His salvation is worth waiting for. Obedience is an everyday happening, a choosing on how to live–either for the ways of the world or the righteousness of the pathway God has for us.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it. 1Thessalonians  5:23-24.

Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:2-5.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2.
