August 8, 2017 – Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. Hebrews 4:12-13.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God.  It is not possible to play hide and seek with God, because we cannot hide from God. No animal, hiding in a hole, is hidden from the Creator – God. No tiny creature in the woods can hide!

Have you have ever studied the muscles and the make up of a frog? Once in college, I was given a dead frog to cut apart, muscle from muscle, and all the innermost parts.  But I didn’t find the attitude of the frog or his desires.

The Bible is sharp like a sword, it can show us our attitudes and desires – good and evil.  This is what God sees in us.  The two edged sword, The Word of God, cuts deep within.  He knows when we think of evil, He knows the thing we did that is wrong, even if no one else knows.  Live so others see Jesus in each of us with every word, deed,  and thought.

When we live for and with Jesus daily, trusting God steadily, we do not turn off living for Jesus one day, and turn it on the following day.  This is not a ‘see-saw’ of faith or pretend, but a steady faithfulness as God is to us.

Is it impossible? No, Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts to teach us and guide us.  All the glory Jesus has in Heaven we will share if we are faithful.

For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. Hebrews 3:14.
