August 6, 2019 – Romans 4:16-17

That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. Romans 4:16-17.

Reading these two verses, we learn Abraham believed God, I wonder if I share the faith of Abraham.  His faith in God was counted as righteousness.  Through the Grace of Jesus, we become one of the many stars in the sky and grain of sand on the shore. Adopted by Abraham.

Abraham could have looked in the mirror could have wavered and begun to doubt whether God really spoke to him because of his age.  He could have looked at Sarah and doubted as she was beyond her child-bearing years.   Years later the disciples asked Jesus who could be saved.  But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.

Reading the Bible, over and over we see God guiding our hearts and our lives.  The promises of God include, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20b. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6.  If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:14.

We grow strong in our faith as we give glory to God!

No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God. Romans 4:20.
