August 4, 2020 – Isaiah 40:7-8
The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:7-8.
Have you ever noticed how often a wilted flower is thrown into the trash? Or grass turning from a vibrant green to a withered yellowed grass? They have lost their beauty.
People grow weary and ask, Is this all there is? No, there is the Word of God, which lasts forever. Trusting in God requires resting in His Goodness and Forgiveness. This faith and trust in God provides an inner strength that nothing in the world can destroy.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39.
Oh, Lord, Our God, Help us in this life to hold fast to Your strength, and trust in you. As I grow old, help me to wait on You and renew my strength in you. Help me to rely on Your Word and see your purpose for my life. Help me long for Your Ways. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; His steps do not slip. Psalm 37:40-41
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31.
Emily, again you wrote a great snippet! AMEN!
