August 31, 2021 – Luke 13:18-19
He said, therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” Luke 13:18-19.
A mustard seed is a tiny seed, and to see it grow into a large tree describes how the kingdom of God enlarges when we show acts of kindness and love in the name of Jesus to others.
Psalm 1 describes the blessed man whose delight is in the law of the Lord, who meditates on God’s law day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3.
God’s Word is not meaningless. So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11.
O Lord, Our God, Help me hear you Voice and obey Your Law. For You are the sovereign God over all Your Creation. Fill me with Your goodness in all I say and goodness, I pray in the name of Jesus! Amen.
May even the bread we eat remind us of the Kingdom of God. Help us to be the yeast or leaven of the love of Jesus in the way we live, that others see the love of Jesus.
And again He said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour until it was all leavened.” He went on His way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. Luke 13:20-22.
