August 30, 2018 – Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” Genesis 1:26.

Have you ever wondered how we appear to be ‘made in the image of God?’ When a new baby is born, we try to determine who he or she ‘takes after’ with features, the color of eyes, height, and many other ways.  I Samuel 16:7b. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.  Genesis 2:7. We cannot live without His breath in our lungs.  It is when we accept His Son, Jesus, our spirits come alive and we live for Him.

For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.  John 4:24.  Our Lord God is faithful. He is the truth and love.

Adam and Eve were given tasks to accomplish on earth.  Through Jesus, we are to put on Christ.  Our task is to love others more dearly every day.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.  Colossians 3:12-13.

So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground. Genesis 1:27-28.
