August 21, 2015 – Philippians 4:7-8

Phillipians4-7-8And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:7-8Storms of life threaten daily to capture us and destroy us.  Yet believing, having faith in, and trusting God is our guard  against these storms. So how do we make sure our minds and hearts are centered on Him?  The next verse tells us how.  Romans 12:2 –Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.  Renew our minds constantly and choosing to concentrate on God and love.Just reading the words – true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and commendable – brings hope and peace.  A world where there are no blemishes on apples or hearts.  A world where I can live with and for Him.Alas, we are tainted with rebellion, evil and forgetting God.  How do we fill our minds?  How do I fill my mind? If we dwell on the things of the world, there is no peace.Who is the Truth, the Life and the Way?  Jesus Christ our Lord. Just as he calmed the wind with three words, “Peace!  Be still!” If we have faith and believe and trust, we can ask Jesus for these three words to calm the turbulent winds of our lives.  “Peace!  Be still!”

And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” Mark 4:39-40
