August 20, 2020 – Romans 12:15-17
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. Romans 12:15-17.
How blessed we are to have God’s Word before us. Job did not have His Word to guide him, and yet Job believed. His friends couldn’t shake his faith. As I read the these words from Romans, I know how God wants me to live. Rejoice, live in harmony with one another, and do what is honorable, and live in peace with others.
Don’t try to get even, that is God’s job. Feed your enemy and give him water. God’s People heard these words when they felt lost, God fights for you! God gave one command that teaches all the Ways of God, Love one another.
O Lord, my God, teach me how to love others more than myself. Teach me to walk humbly before God. May the song that I sing each day lift You up before all I meet. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:18-21.
