August 18, 2020 – Lamentations 3:17-18
My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is; so I say, “My endurance has perished; so has my hope from the Lord.” Lamentation 3:17-18.
How can I endure this day’s sadness and heartache when I find no happiness today? How can I endure when Hope is gone in the clouds of the storms of life?
I sit in a drenching rain of my sorrow, alone and forgotten. Then I remember the days of joy in the Lord. I remember His words of direction.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24.
Dear Lord God, help me to remember each day Your everlasting Love and Your Greatness! You will never fail me. I will hope in no other, for You and You alone are my God. In you is salvation through Christ Jesus and I rejoice in You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
I am thine, oh Lord, I have heard Your voice, And it told Your love to me. But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. (Frances Crosby).
We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Psalm 48:9-10.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore, I will hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24.
