August 12, 2016 – Hebrews 10:9-10
Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. Hebrews 10:9-10Do we desire to do God’s will more than anything? Or do we say, “Sure, if I can believe my way and do what I want!” Where do we find God’s will? In His Written Word and from the Holy Spirit God sends to teach us.His will is to make us holy through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. God makes us holy — Jesus paid the price, he is the Lamb that was slaughtered that we might live for God.A new believer and I read scripture together at the kitchen table. We read one portion, and she said, this is a mistake, right? I threatened to tear a page from the Bible, and said, if we tear one page out because we don’t agree, we will have to destroy all the pages.Living according to God’s will each day keeps our trust in God. How do we keep this confident trust? Patient endurance. Day by day, trusting God. When my son, Tim, sent the picture of the flower blooming among the stones, I could see Patient Endurance. A flower growing and blooming in an unlikely environment. This flower represents us — in this world — patiently enduring. The reward is beyond description. Loved in this world, belonging to Him, and living in peace and joy beyond measure and then living in Heaven with Jehovah God for an eternity. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
