August 11, 2020 – Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

Pray for spiritual strength to withstand temptations of anger and impatience.  Praise Him in all things, that our trust in Him grows and our faith does not falter.  We have a Lord God who guards our hears and our minds through Christ Jesus.

The world seeks to fill our minds with revenge and hate, instead of love. The impatience that leads to a sin-filled heart.

Apostle Paul gives us a list of ‘whatevers’ to think on.  Whatever is: true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable – think on these things in the storms and temptations of life.  Paul endured shipwrecks, beatings, and imprisonment. Yet, he sang praises to Jesus for he was given peace of heart and mind.

Dear Lord God, Teach me to pray, teach me to praise you in times of trouble.  You have taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.  You have taught me to love and forgive others.  May my trust always in you. In Name of Jesus, I pray…Amen.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.  If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in His love. John 15:9-10.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9.
