April 7, 2020 – Matthew 21:12-14

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.  He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” Matthew 21:12-13.

Isaiah 56:6-7 ends, “for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.  Jesus left no doubt as to the ‘business as usual’ in the temple.  He also gave the purpose of the temple.  It is a place of prayer for the humble who give praise to the Son of God.

Jesus healed the blind and lame who came to Him.  The children praised Jesus and the chief priests and scribes were indignant. Jesus again quoted from God’s word, Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.  Psalm 8:2.

In this time, our church doors are closed, yet we praise Him.  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?  You are not your own,  for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. I Corinthians 6:19-20.

For Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised! Psalm 96:4a.

And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant,  and they said to Him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, “‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?” Matthew 21:14-16.
