April 7, 2016 – Philippians 1:9-10
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. Philippians 1:9-10.When you look at someone, what do you see? Are you seeing with your eyes and seeing what they look like or how they behave or what they are wearing? Or are you seeing like Jesus sees? With your heart? If you see gentleness, goodness, peace and patience, you can be sure you are seeing Love of the lasting kind. Not just ‘say so’ love from the lips, but the Jesus kind of love from the heart. The Jesus kind of love encourages and comforts. The Jesus kind of love forgives. Having this kind of love allows working together with one mind and purpose. This kind of love makes just being together sweet. When we have one mind and one purpose in life – to love like Jesus loves, we find His joy deep within that lasts. He gave his life to save us from our sins. His kind of love makes our hearts tender and compassionate. This kind of love is the ‘salt and pepper’ of truly living in love. Do you love Jesus more than any thing else? Do you really, really know Jesus? The very first thing I want you to know is this –We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. I John 4:19-20Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Philippians 2:1-2
