April 3, 2018 – Genesis 6:8-9

But Noah found favor with the Lord. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Genesis 6:8-9.

What is God thinking about us, are we walking in close fellowship with God?  The world around us lays down expected beliefs and behaviors to ‘belong’.

Noah was not an ‘in’ kind of guy.  Rather he walked God’s way – and God declared Noah the only blameless person living on earth at the time.  Because God chose to save Noah and his family – He gave them a job to do. God expected obedience of Noah.  Our Lord God gave explicit instructions to follow – including the size and design of the ark.

Did Noah stop because this was not the way others around them behaved. Others didn’t say, ‘Oh, we better build an ark, too.  See what Noah is doing?’  No, they made fun of Noah.  Have you ever considered what a mammoth job God gave them to do?  The size of the ark in feet is 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.  (NLT) .  An NFL football field is 360 feet long and 159 feet wide.

They were saved from the flood waters.  We, too, are saved when we choose to believe God when He sent Jesus to save us from certain death.  Jesus taught love, joy, and peace with goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness.  Believing in Jesus is not an off-and-on game.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10.

So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Genesis 6:14-15.
