April 23, 2018 – Deuteronomy 30:19
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Deuteronomy 30:19.
The choices we make in this journey of life on earth make a difference. The choice is life or death – a life of blessings or curses.
Do your choices on earth make a differences to anyone else? As I made breakfast one morning, I felt three pairs of eyes staring as I worked. I felt an overwhelming responsibility of their care. What I did this morning, and every moment after, impacted these three lives God entrusted to my husband and me.
“Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” I thought about my parents and grandparents, and the decisions they made to serve the Lord. I didn’t want to break the chain of life they passed on to me. What could I do?
God made a covenant with Abraham and this same covenant can bring us the same assurance of blessed life. This is our key to a full, rich life through our choices each day of loving the Lord our God. Our commitment to Him with each choice we make. This is the key to our long lives in Him. The impact we make with our lives of faith is to His Glory always, not ours.
The commitment of our life to loving and obeying God is the key to our lives.
“You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Deuteronomy 30:20
