April 22, 2019 – Exodus 14:3-4

For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so. Exodus 14:3-4.

Pharaoh didn’t realize the condition of his heart as tried to out maneuver God. Our Lord God protected his people from the most powerful ruler on earth.  Pharaoh had the might of six hundred chariots and the charioteer army follows his bidding.  His heart was filled with hate toward the audacity of the Israelites to leave him without workers.

Pharaoh did not consider the power of God. He reveled in his might. May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! May He send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!  Psalm 20:1-2.

We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. I John 5:18.

When we follow God’s commands, we find protection. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11.

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”  So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him,  and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. Exodus 14:5-7.
