April 21, 2020 – Psalm 119:27-30
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. Psalm 119:27-30.
“I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:8. And I ask, What is in my heart? Do I find delight in following your two commands? And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39.
Loving God with all our hearts does not leave room for anger or hate. Loving others is seeing them the way Jesus sees them, with faithful forgiveness. Seeing God through His vast creation is only the beginning. His testimonies are beyond what is written in His Word.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:4-5. Ask Noah, ask David, ask Moses, or ask Job. “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that a flood of waters may cover you? Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’? Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind? Job 38.35-36.
Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? Psalm 71:19.
I cling to your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame! I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart! Psalm 119:31-32.
