April 20, 2016 – James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17Where does wisdom come from? From God above. We aren’t born wise. It comes from God alone and a life of faith and trust. Not from a learned man who studies years from philosophical tomes written by Man. Which book imparts wisdom? The Bible, written by inspiration of the Lord God above. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! Psalm 111:10 These are the words of the Lord.Do you know a man or woman who is gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and fruit (good works)? Then you know they have been in the Word of God and live according to His Word. It is not only knowledge but his heart-way of living. If a man is arrogant, fights with weapons of lies and bribery for his place to reach the top rung of the ladder of life, that man only loves himself. The first man will sow a harvest of righteousness in peace. In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” (2 Chronicles 1:7) What was Solomon’s answer? “Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” (2 Chronicles 1:10)Have you prayed for wisdom for yourself or others? And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:9-10)And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:18
