April 20, 2015 – I John 3:2-3

IJohn3-2Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. I John 3:2-3We wait expectantly to learn the mysteries of God.  Some of us doubt, some wait with angst, some wait with anticipation.  Some of take the good of the world and proclaim it great. A video shows children confronted with a choice — a chocolate chip now, or a wrapped unknown present later.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR9UWj1q304  Why wait?  A much greater award awaits.  This is the same for us as we wait for the LORD.We shall be like Him, when he comes again. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!  Psalm 27:14While waiting, and obeying the world will hate us and yet we love.  For we know to hate our brother is death.  Not for the one who is hated, but for the one who hates.  There are many ways to hate – attacking with evil thoughts, attacking with words, or attacking with actions.  Hate reveals the lack of love.  It reveals the lack of knowledge of who God is.  God is Love.See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  I John 3:1

Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. I John 3:13-15
