April 18, 2015 – Matthew
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16Where does this light come from? The lights in the sky were created by our Almighty God. Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.There it is — Jesus is the light and when we follow Him, we do not walk in darkness. Darkness is death and Light is life! No wonder things look hopeless in the night — Hope lives in the Light.Interesting in the verse below, includes if your eye is healthy! What is healthy? What makes the eye healthy. It is through the eye, the lamp of the body, we see evidences of Jesus, the Light. Look around you — what tells you about Jesus? Creation, His Word, those who have chosen to walk in the light. After 85 years, my eyes were seeing less and less clearly. Cataract surgery cleared my eyesight tremendously. When we begin to take for granted life with Jesus, our eyes are not healthy anymore. We do not thrill at the name of Jesus, or yearn to remember His Love, or delight in Him. We have lost our first love and the darkness impedes our sight. The light of Jesus dims in our hearts…and we do not see clearly. Our whole body fills with darkness. We call what is wrong as right. This is unhealthy living, this is darkness.Dear LORD, fill my heart with your Light, let it shine, lighting my way in this world. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!“ Matthew 6:22-23
