April 1, 2016 – Psalm 25:9-10

Psalm25-9-10He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. Psalm 25:9-10Just what is humility?  Why is humility so greatly treasured by God?  Pride in your self is not humility.  Today’s culture desires to build our self-esteem.  Philippians 2:3 tells us just what humility is…’Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.’Jesus gave us the commandment, not a suggestion: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself Luke 10:27.   We seek pleasure, new clothing, special things to pleasure our palate.  If we hurt, we want others to hurt.  If we are hungry we want food.  After a day’s work, we want relaxation.Love – the ultimate gift we can give anyone is the same as Jesus Christ gave us.  He became a blood sacrifice to make us free from sin.  Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. “Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel,” which means “God with us…  Matthew 1:23.  We find this same prophecy in Isaiah 7:14, long before Jesus was born.  Jesus is our Shepherd and we will follow Him.In Psalms, we find King David’s reaction to  God’s unfailing love.  “I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever!”   Chris Tomlin penned these words –How can I keep from singing Your praise…How can I ever say enough, how amazing is Your love…How can I keep from shouting Your name…I know I am loved by the King and it makes my heart want to sing! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQI5wxtH6OY)I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever! Young and old will hear of your faithfulness. Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens. Psalm 89:1-2
