November 2, 2020 – Job 37:6-11
For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’ likewise to the downpour, His mighty downpour. He seals up the hand of every man, that all men whom He made may know it. Then the beasts go into their lairs and remain in their dens. From its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds. By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast. He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter His lightning. Job 37:6-11.
In God’s thunderous voice, He explains the mysteries man has seen but cannot comprehend. The happenings of the wonder of weather emanates from the Word He speaks. He speaks and ice is given. Large bodies of water are frozen shut.
Man, created by God, has tried to make it rain through the ages. Forecasting weather is still a ‘maybe’ activity. Maybe it will rain, maybe the wind will blow. Charts and electronic devices are still not completely accurate. Why not? In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1.
What is God’s motivation? Job 37:13 tells why He causes weather to be. The three reasons are for the discipline of man, for the sake of the earth, or as an expression of His steadfast love. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways! Romans 11:33.
The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call on Him,
to all who call on Him in truth. Psalm 145:17-18. Great is the Lord!
They turn around and around by His guidance, to accomplish all that He commands them on the face of the habitable world. Whether for correction or for His land or for love, He causes it to happen. Job 37: 12-13.
