October 27, 2020 – “From the Perspective of Heaven!”

Perspective of Heaven!  How does our Father God see us as we deal with the daily happenings in this world?  We often find when we change our perspective, our thinking changes.

We grow up thinking from our own perspective and wondering what is wrong with others, in the way they deal with their situations.  One way of creativity is to look at situations with new eyes, substituting, and combining.  The Bible begins with these words, In the beginning God created the heavens and earth. And 26 verses later we read So God created man in His own Image, in the Image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.

Everywhere we see the beauty and wonder of the heavens and the earth. What does God see as He watches the male and female He created when He sees the way we deal with sickness, death, division, anger, and sinful ways?  Does He see people following just two commandments to love God and love one another? Do they heed the teaching of Jesus, the Son of God, who gives us the answer in His teaching?  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6.

From the Perspective of Heaven, we are given life; we are given the Truth, and Jesus came to teach us the Way.  Yet, we sing along with Frank Sinatra the theme song of ‘self-determination’, “I Did It My Way!”

When I was young, Mother assigned this scripture for me to learn.  I often came back to this scripture through the years.  I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.  Psalm 121:1-5. I pictured the red hills of Oklahoma and marveled at a God who never sleeps.

The scriptures hold truths that come alive, just as we need them.   For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12.

This God—His way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.  For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?  Psalm 18:30-31.

We do not know what God is thinking or planning. I heard Him described as putting pieces together the pieces of our lives to prepare for moments long after we are gone. When we understand how Great our God is, we are in awe.  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  Isaiah 55:8-9.

He sees and knows eternity and the plans He has for us. He made us, and we are His. His thoughts are for our redemption.  His desire is embedded in the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6.  Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Nowhere in the Bible does it refer to ‘our kingdom come’. We will never be God, there is only one God!  And we belong to Him.

It is time to see from the Perspective of Heaven and view our brief life on this earth as His, to follow Him, and live for Him.

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;  God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” I Corinthians 1:17-31.

How can we enjoy the richness of wisdom?  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5.

What is the wisdom God gives us? Is it from men?  No.  But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.  And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18.

This is His wisdom from the Perspective of Heaven. Notice the words, pure, peace, gentle, and goodness. These are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Perspective of Heaven is one of Peace above all.

How many ways can we praise the Lord? Our response to our Lord God with our actions, our language, our holy living, our peaceful ways. World wisdom divides, and the Wisdom of God unites.
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!  I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.  Psalm 146:1-2.

As we look into the Heavens and see His Glory—we wonder what God sees in our Hearts, and why He loves us enough to send his Only Son to die for our salvation?  Why?

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  Psalm 8:3-5.
