For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory.
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 32:7-8At the age of 85, looking back and remembering, is a time to reflect on the paths that have been mine in my life time. My husband of 62 years and counting, in the throes of Lewy Body Dementia, told me his dream. He drove his pickup in the south 40 acres. When it was time to return home, he bounded into the pickup and looked all around. He couldn’t remember which way to go to find home. It was a mystery to him. He began in one direction, and realized it was the wrong way. He turned around and tried to determined a new direction that leads home.Home is our chosen abode in this life. Heaven is my chosen Home after death. While driving, staggering, walking through this life, I often choose the wrong way to reach my heavenly Home. I choose wrong thinking, wrong activities and wrong directions. Is it any wonder this scripture is a haunting reminder of hope, faith and trust?God is my hiding place. He protects me from trouble and surrounds me with songs of victory. He watches over me and I listen for His voice. We are each surrounded by a great crowd of cheering witnesses as we travel along. (Hebrews 12:1) When we choose a zig-zag path instead of entering the narrow gate, (Matthew 7:14) we have made a choice.Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm 91:1-4
