September 24, 2020 – John 15:16-17

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you. These things I command you so that you will love one another. John 15:16-17.

The blooms on a fruit tree are a promise of what is to come. This delicate blossom doesn’t realize it is chosen to BECOME.

One of the joys on earth is to be wanted, and chosen for a purpose.  A blossom of any growing plant faces the onslaught of heavy rain that nourishes.  Of bugs that want to attack.  Yet we are chosen to bear fruit and bring joy to our Father in Heaven who loves us.  Even the warmth of the sun’s love encourages the blossom to transform into the fruit so does the love of Jesus shows us who we are meant to be.

Even as the fruit on the tree doesn’t compete to be better than his brother on the tree.  They love each other as all are chosen.  How is it possible to love one another?  God sends a Helper, the Spirit of Truth, who teaches us of his Son Jesus and His Love.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command you. John 15:13-14.

Dear Father in Heaven, may we bloom with joy and love others with abandon.  May our fruit of kindness and gentleness grow into fruit that reflects Jesus.  I pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.” John 15:26-27.
