IISamuel22 copyMounted on a mighty angelic being, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.  He shrouded himself in darkness, veiling his approach with dense rain clouds.  A great brightness shone around him, and burning coals blazed forth.  II Samuel 22:11-13 When I see my cousin’s posts on facebook as he gathers his harvest of wheat, I smile.  Many times he emulates his father, grandfather and great grandfather, ‘looking up’ into the skies.  And many generations before…Mom often told me about working in the field with her Dad, before the advent of tractors and machinery.  I can see her in my mind,  in her dress, wearing a bonnet to shield her eyes against the sun.  I can see farmers through the ages trusting God for their daily food. They look up to the skies to see God.  Searching for God’s purpose and knowing Who He is sometimes causes angst as in the search for the Holy Grail. Looking up gives us understanding, trust, faith and love.  We look into God’s Word and learn more about the Who God is.  From the very beginning of His Word, He gave us his plan for man.His Creation gives us eyes to see God.  Long ago, Mom wrote, “I See God”.I watch enrapt as soft green leaves / Push through the broken sod;  In greening things and sturdy stems I see the hand of God.The drenching rain, the beaming sun,/ The wind- all upward prod; In all the greening things I see The handiwork of God.A miracle of sheer delight/ As flow’rs begin to nod; In awe and speechless thought I stand:  I see the face of God.
