God is More Glorious…
My
daughter makes lists to accomplish daily tasks labeled – This and That. It
includes laundry, baths, her job tasks, shopping, exercise, etc. I commended her on her labeling prowess, for
then going off-task may still be incorporated in the original list. It seems that every list I make forbids
‘off-tasking’. As usual, I learn from my
daughter, Anna. It occurs to me that labeling a list in the spiritual realm
could harvest an unfocused spiritual life.
Or would it? In my daily search
for Bible verses that make my heart zing, I came across this one in Job. It is difficult to understand the essence of
our unseen Creator, but through His creation, we absorb a bit of who He is and
we praise Him.

God is more glorious than the moon; He shines brighter than the stars. Job 25:5
I
remember the beautiful moonlit nights when the stars held hands and sang
through the night. The night entertained
a softness made of peace and deep blue velvet.
The glory of God dwarfs the glow of the stars and becomes the awe of heavenly
wonder.

Not
all nights have the brilliance of light – and we ponder why. Sometimes God seems so near and sometimes the
remembering of His love seems as far away as the end of the universe. That is when we search His Word, for He is
faithful. His love is ever new.

When
life seems the most difficult, we search for him the most. Then our intentional living begins. It isn’t ‘this-and-that’, but intentional
seeking after God and His ways.
Remembering Him becomes a way of life, not a last resort to ‘right’ our
world.

Several
years ago, I began thanking God for green lights and parking places. I thank God for finishing grocery shopping in
record time. Praising God for laughter
when my husband enjoys a joke or listening to an email from one of our
children. There is never an end of the
ways God shows his love to us. Being
aware of God is a never-ending delight. The tasks that God gives us before we
are born, reminds me that God gave tasks to Job, Barnabas, Paul and Jeremiah
before they were born.

David
was set apart by God. (I Samuel 16:1) Samuel was to go to the house of Jesse
and anoint David as the next King. Acts
13:22 tells us – And when he had removed him (Saul), he raised up David to be their king, of whom
he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’

In
II Samuel 22, we read David’s song of deliverance…And David spoke to the Lord the
words of this song on the day when the Lord delivered
him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said, “The Lord is my
rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take
refuge, my shield, and the horn of my
salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies”.

David lived with an intentional awareness of God. He recognized the power
of God to forgive in response to true repentance. God gave David the kingship of Israel. Even in his deepest sin-distress and pain,
David called upon the name of the Lord.
Is it any wonder that he was true to God during his life.

I read Psalm 18:2-3 – The Lord is
my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the
horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I call upon the Lord,
who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.

I am
struck with David’s consistency in his faith…he did not vacillate in his
understanding of who God is and will always be.
He didn’t forsake God. It is astonishing that there are so many
references to the Psalms in II Samuel 22.

God is Love. There are many names for God in the Bible. A few of them are; The Lord My Shepherd (Jehovah-Raah), The Lord

Everlasting God (El Olam), God (Elohim), The Lord will provide (Jehovah Jireh),
The Lord is Peace (Jehovah Shalom) and the The Lord of Hosts (Jehovah Sabaoth. There are many more names that describe our

David’s
Psalms show that he knows God and knows that He is ever present. Right beside us. In Psalm 139:7 – Where shall
I go from your Spirit? Or
where shall I flee from your presence?

God’s
Presence is our Home. One of our
children came home for a visit. I asked
what he liked best about being home. He answered, “I don’t have to worry about
what I will eat…” When we truly live in God’s presence, we can trust Him and
feel secure. That ‘at home’ feeling is
the relationship we enjoy with God. We

To
prove His Love for us, God sent his Only Begotten Son to die on the cross to
give us salvation through the spilled blood of Jesus. Jesus will come for us when God declares it
is time. No matter how often frail men
try to rid the world of God. Yet, God
is. And His Grace endures through the
ages, from generation to generation.

And I cry Holy, Holy, Holy,
How awesome is your name.
How awesome is your name.
How majestic is your

I love the thoroughness of your post. You used so many Bible verses. You also began so personable with using the example of your daughter's list-making.
Also, thank you for visiting my blog and making a comment.
